DAY 1 : WELCOME to ISTANBUL
|
|
Today is an arrival day. Your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel in the Old City of Istanbul where you will meet your fellow travelling companions. |
DAY 2 : ISTANBUL to ANKARA to CAPPADOCIA (B)
|
|
We depart early for Turkish nation’s capital: Ankara. Here, we check out the Anatolian Civilisations Museum and Ataturk’s Mausoleum before heading further inland along the Anatolian Plane to the surreal land of Cappadocia. This region of Turkey amazes millions of tourists each year and is guaranteed to blow you away. |

Today sees us partaking in a fully-guided tour of this fascinating region, including Underground Cities, Open Air Museums and Fairy Chimneys. We arrive back in our hotel late afternoon. An optional this evening is to take part in a Traditional Folklore evening, encompassing traditional and belly-dancing, as well as your meals and drinks. Highly recommended! |

Another tour of this region today, but this time out to the pottery village of Avanos, fairy chimneys, caravansarays and even a chance to see where the original Star Wars film was made. We arrive back to our hotel late afternoon and rest for a big drive tomorrow. |
DAY 5 : CAPPADOCIA to KONYA to OLYMPOS (B)

We depart early this morning for the Religious capital of Turkey, Konya. Here we will stop at the Mevlana Museum and see, supposedly the most expensive carpet in the world. From here, we drive south for Olympos and you will understand why this part of the world is called the Turquoise Coast. We stay in the famous treehouses this evening, which is a highlight for one and all. An option tonight is to check out the eternal flames of Chimaera. |

Today is a free day! Maybe you would like to laze on the beach, or take a fishing boat out on the Mediterranean, or just simply write a few postcards to back home. |
DAY 7 : OLYMPOS to FETHIYE to KOYCEGIZ (B)

|
We drive along the beautiful coastline marvelling at the scenery until we reach the port town of Fethiye where we will board a Gulet (Turkish Sailing Boat) for a trip on the Med! We will swim in some of the clearest waters in the world, whilst soaking up some rays, partaking in water sports, or just simply relaxing on deck. We will also visit Butterfly Valley, the only place in the world where the Jersey Tiger Butterfly lives. This afternoon, we drive north for the small town of Koycegiz. |

This small town is a highlight on the Gurtour circuit and today we will see why. We board for a trip on the Lake and out to Turtle Beach, before we make our way to the Mud Baths. Late this afternoon, we head back into town. |
DAY 9 : KOYCEGIZ to SELCUK (B)
|
|
We drive through the Selpak mountains to the farming village of Selcuk where we will check out one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World at Ephesus. We partake in a fully-guided tour of this well preserved set of ruins, before resting up in Selcuk. |
DAY 10 : SELCUK - PERGAMUM - GALLIPOLI (B)

An early start this morning for the ancient town of Bergama where we will stop for lunch and get a chance to see the Ruins of Pergamum, which play host to the steepest amphitheatre in the world. From here we will make our way further north for the ruined cities of Troy, where our guide will show us round. Tonight we catch our first glimpse of the infamous Dardenelles. |
DAY 11 : ANZAC DAY at GALLIPOLI (B,L)

Today is the reason we came to Turkey. We awake in the early hours of the morning and make our way to the site of the ill-fated landings of 1915, for the inaugural Dawn Service. Emotions run high as we listen to the silence of this eerie place, and pay respect to our fallen soldiers. |
|
After our ANZAC Day experience at Gallipoli, we can not leave without doing a fully-guided tour of the peninsula. Our guide will take us to ANZAC Cove, Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair memorials, The Nek and reveal stories of battle woes and heroes. |
DAY 13 : GALLIPOLI to ISTANBUL (B)

We depart the Gallipoli Peninsula this morning and head back to the big smoke with some very strong memories of ANZAC Day 2001 printed firmly in our minds. |

We take part in a fully-guided tour of one of the oldest cities in the world today, in Istanbul. The tour includes a visit to the Aya Sophia, Blue Mosque, Underground Cistern, Hippodrome and Topkapi Palace. If we have time, you may like to try your hand at bargaining in the oldest covered market in the world, The Grand Bazaar. |
DAY 15 : ISTANBUL to HOME (B)

Our tour finishes after breakfast and we are all transferred back to the airport. |
